Long Time...

Wow…I have to say this is probably the longest I have gone without blogging. We have been so very busy and I just don’t have a lot of time anymore. I’ll try to catch you up on what we have been up doing.

Let me think…we finally got our house back up for sale. We relisted it on May 4th and have already had 2 different people come look at it. Hopefully someone will make us an offer soon!

I (Beth) got a new job! Yay! I applied on April 27th and the scheduled my interview on the 29th and while I was at the interview on May 1st he offered me the job! That was the easiest interview process ever. I am now the administrative assistant for a vice president. This is with the same company I was already working for. I will be full time with him on June 1st. I am super excited! This was a much needed change!

On Saturday we left our house at 3:30am to drive to Mobile for Carrie’s college graduation. I’m very glad we went, but it was such a long day. We got home a little before 2:00am on Sunday. Lori and Joel rode down with us and Adam joined for the trip back since he is done with school for the summer. We loaded down our car with stuff that Carrie needed us to bring back for her. She left for Greece on Monday and will be gone until next Friday. Then she will be working for a little over a month and then she is moving to NC to go to seminary.

Last Wednesday I started a new cake decorating course. This one is on fondant and gum paste and I think it is going to be really fun! Jeminah was not able to come to this one with me, but another friend from work and my neighbor joined. I am excited about class tonight. I’ll try to post a picture or two of my cake. Speaking of cakes, I made my first tiered cake for a bridal shower a couple weeks ago. It was just a 2 tiered cake, but still. I’ll try to post a picture of that too.

I forgot…I also had to go to Portland, ME for work…that was back at the beginning of April. I didn’t get to do anything fun…just had to go to meetings and training. Fortunately, it was only for 3 days.

That is about all I can think of for now. I will try to post again soon. I know I have tons of new pictures to post.

Yay for the Steelers! Scott is a huge Steelers fan...he has been following them for years. So, we are very happy that they came home with a win last night! We had a little party at our house and watched the game. I got just a few decorations and made a cake...nothing too fancy. We had a nice evening and a great outcome!

Last Wednesday we drove down to Mobile for Carrie's piano recital. The whole family got to go and my grandparents and aunt from Colorado were able to make it too. It was fun and I am really glad we got to see them. We stayed until Sunday, so it was a nice long weekend getaway.

It was really dark in there, so the pictures aren't all that great. This is the best I could do with my current camera equipment. I guess Ruthie thought her recital was boring...

To Be Discussed At A Later Date

In the following post you will read what I believe we as Americans have in store for our future. Some may take place in 2009, others may not take place until 2012 or even 2015, but one thing is for certain. The decision American’s made yesterday will set in motion the course for this country for the next 50 years. Below you will see a collection of events I believe will happen in the next 10 years-some of which I believe will happen in the next four. As these events occur, I will bring them back to the forefront of our blog to remind our readers that this was the “change” they voted for. I am saddened by the choice this country has made and even more so, I'm extremely disappointed in the people who call themselves Christians in this country:

• Obama will appoint 2 liberal Supreme Court Judges giving the majority to the liberal judges.

• In response to the 2 afore mentioned judges the following case will go before the Supreme Court
o A gun ban in at least one city in the US. It will pass by a measure of 5 to 4. Roberts, Alito, Thomas along with Scalia will vote to uphold the 2nd Amendment.

• Taxes on people making less than $100,000 will be increased. This is something that Barack Obama said he would not do. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9904E4DC1438F932A35753C1A96E9C8B63&sec=&spon=&pagewanted=2

• Unemployment will reach 10%. Currently the U.R. is at 6.1%. This will happen because of two factors.
o Taxes. The definition of “rich” has progressively slid downward since the summer of 2008. When companies taxes are increased it compresses their ability to expand their business thus creating jobs
o “Wealth Redistribution” What happens when you give irresponsible people money? They become more irresponsible. When lazy people are given money for no reason, they will give up their desire to work hard.

• A Windfall Profits tax (or some form of it) on oil companies will be passed. The oil companies will of course pass that increase on to us, the customer.
• Taxes on ammunition will reach an all time high
• The Fairness Doctrine, or some form of that doctrine, will be reinstated.
• The District of Columbia will get representation (obviously liberal representation)
• Fuel from ethanol will be pushed and it will drive up the cost of corn so much that it will bankrupt other companies. Local impact: Pilgrim’s Pride will shut its doors because of outrageous corn prices.
• Government spending and programs will reach an all time high
• A terrorist attack inside the US will occur within the next 4 years. This has not happened in 7 years since Sept 11, 2001.
• Same sex marriage will become legal in all 50 states.

Today Will Be Better!

I am hoping for a much better day today than I had yesterday. Scott is coming home tonight, so my day is already way better! His flight is supposed to arrive at 7:22. Hopefully he doesn’t have any delays. He nearly missed his connection in Charlotte on the way because his flight in Chattanooga was delayed. He said he has actually been enjoying his class. It hasn’t been the stress that he was anticipating, so that is good. Hopefully he will enjoy the projects that are coming up too.

Yesterday was not so good for me. It seemed like if something could go wrong…it did! Before you read any further I will warn you…this is going to be the whiny section of the post…haha! I had a doctor’s appointment at 10:00 yesterday morning because I am having a lot of trouble with my stomach and some pretty severe pain in my left side. However, they called me at about 8:30 and said the doctor had an emergency or something and was going to be late. I had taken half the day off just so I wouldn’t have to rush during lunch and all, but they didn’t end up getting me in until 1:35. It was pouring rain all day and the office is in Georgia on Lookout Mountain. So, I decided not to come into work until after my appointment because I would only be able to be here for about 45 minutes and I just didn’t want to walk to and from my parking lot in the rain for such a short time. It should have only taken me about 15 minutes to get to work from the doctor’s office, but it ended up taking me nearly an hour and half because they closed the highway coming down the mountain and I didn’t know how to get back. They didn’t have any detour signs and I got lost. I called my friend, Wendy to see if she could help me, but it took us forever to figure out where I was and how to find an alternate route. I got to work at 3:35 and I get off at 4:45…almost pointless. Then, I went to Wal-Mart to fill my two prescriptions and they said they could not fill them until they spoke with my doctor. So, now I have to go back today to get them. I did have a fun evening though…I went to Wendy’s to watch some TV and have dinner with her. So, that was fun. Okay…I am done whining now.

So YAY…Scott is coming home tonight and tomorrow is Friday!

I Hope this Week is Quick!

I am just sitting here at work and watching the clock. I really want to go home. I am so tired today. Plus, I got all my work done early today and now I am bored.

Scott left for Portland this morning…I dropped him off at the airport on my way to work. He just arrived and is waiting for the shuttle to take him to his hotel. At least he will have all evening to relax and maybe get to bed early. The next two days his hours will be from about 8:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night. On Thursday he will only have his conference for about half the day and then he’ll catch a fight home in the afternoon. I really hate being home alone. I made plans for every night this week so that I won’t be home too much by myself. I had lunch today with my friends Wendy and Dana…Dana brought her little girl, Kaylen too. So, that was fun. I don’t see Dana very often. Tonight I have bible study until about 8:00. Tomorrow night I am having dinner with my friends, Laura and Kerri…and Kerri’s little girl, Reagan. Kerri’s husband is away on business too, so she and Reagan are home alone. On Wednesday I am spending the evening with my friend, Wendy. We are going to watch some TV shows together. Then on Thursday Scott will be coming home! So, hopefully the week will go by quickly.

I really don’t have a lot to say…not too much is going on right now. I am ready for Christmas to get here though…at least the season. I want to start decorating so that I can get some presents under the tree. I already have quite a bit of shopping done, so I am ready to start wrapping.

I guess that is all for now. I will update later if I think of anything to tell you.

I'm just now getting around to posting some pictures. Sorry for the delay it's been kinda busy. For those of you on Facebook you've probably already seen most of these.

Our trip started out at about 9:00 on Thursday night. We started out in our car, but ended up taking Damon’s because we just didn’t have enough room. Ruthie came along for the ride and to spend the week with her grandma.

Our first stop was near Kansas City to see Damon’s grandma. She had never met Ruthie before, so I thought it would be nice to stop for a short visit. She made us a huge breakfast!

Our next stop was Cabela’s in Kansas City. Ruthie hated all the dead stuffed animals, so she rode around in the cart with her head down and eyes closed.

We were back on the road again for about another 10 hours. We finally got to the Corwine’s house in Fort Collins around 9:00 on Friday night. We pulled in the driveway and Ruthie shouted “We Made It!” I think we were all feeling that way.

On Saturday morning we slept in until about 8:00 and then the guys headed for a week in the woods. I went out to breakfast to meet my friend, Renee and we ended up just sitting there talking for about 5 hours. It was fun to catch up with her. I got back to the Corwine’s house around 2:00 and then headed to my grandparents’ house around 4:30. I got to my grandparents’ house around 8:30 and we spent some time just catching up.

On Sunday morning my aunt picked me up and then we picked my cousin, Kaylee up and headed toward Denver. Remember I told I was going to see Chad, Allison and baby Kane. We spent the day with them and then Kaylee and I drove back. Aunt Deanna stayed there to help Allison out for the week.

On Monday my grandparents had to attend a funeral, so Kaylee and I met them after it was over for lunch at Cracker Barrel and then we headed to a park to take some pictures. It was not the best time of day for pictures, but some turned out okay.

Monday night I went to town with my grandma for her music practice at church. When we arrived at church we saw Barrack Obama leaving town…he was speaking in Pueblo that day. Too bad it wasn’t Sarah Palin…she was in the Denver area.

On Tuesday my grandma had her Beth Moore bible study, but I decided to just stay home with my grampa. We watched some TV together and then set out on the deck for awhile. The weather was perfect…although they had a lot of wasps that would not leave us alone. After her bible study she picked us up some lunch and came home. I do not remember what we did that night. We might have just stayed home. I was having severe sinus and chest congestion for about 3 days. I just had bronchitis about 2 to 3 weeks before, plus the altitude change is always hard on me. So, I had a few not so fun days. It did clear up though, so that was good…no antibiotic needed.

On Wednesday Kaylee and I went shopping for some DENVER BRONCOS stuff! I was able to do a bit of early Christmas shopping, so that was great. We also both got our cartilage pierced. Yay! I have wanted to do it for awhile and she said she would like to as well. We ended up agreeing on a pair of earrings, so it was cheap as we each took one earring.

On Thursday I had to head back to Fort Collins. We took a few pictures that morning. Grampa and Uncle Don

My grandparents had another funeral. So, they left for that and I packed up all my stuff and headed to meet Kaylee. We went to eat and then did a little shopping. We also made a Starbucks run…yum! We met my grandparents for dinner when they were done at the funeral and then I headed back towards Fort Collins. However, on the way back I started having car trouble. I had several flashing lights and while traveling down the interstate my cruise control shut off on me. So…I called my dad and he thought it might be the alternator. He wanted me to stop somewhere and try to turn it off and see if it would restart. I was not a big fan of this idea because I really didn’t want to be stranded somewhere. I had also tried to call my friend, Wayne because he lives near Fort Collins and would be able to fix whatever was wrong. However, at this point I was about 100ish miles from his house. I decided that Focus on the Family was a safe place to stop. As I was pulling in there Wayne called me back. He said he really wished I knew how to check things like the oil and such and at that moment a security guard from Focus on the Family came out to see if I needed help. I am pretty sure he saw this young girl in heels, bling-bling sunglasses, talking on her cell phone with the hood of the car open and thought “wow, this girl has no idea what she is doing”. At least I knew how to open the hood. Anyhow, he was super nice and he checked everything and said it was safe to drive…just didn’t know how far I could get. I took the chance and headed to Wayne’s house. And I made it! I just stayed the night there because the guys still weren’t back from hunting.

On Friday morning I went out to coffee with Lois (Wayne’s wife) and an old friend who I am pretty sure kept me in the church nursery at church when I was a baby. It was fun catching up with Lois and Debbie. On the way to coffee Scott FINALLY called me! He had no cell phone service in the mountains and I had not talked to him since the day they left. So, they had just gotten back to Fort Collins. They came over to get me and the car. I just left all my stuff at Wayne and Lois’ house because we already had plans to meet them for dinner that night. We had a nasty afternoon though…they needed to cut up the elk and seal it in vacuum bags. It was gross. I got a bit of blood on my hand too. Anyway, that night we went back to Wayne and Lois’ house and we all went to dinner. We had a lot of fun catching up with them.

On Saturday morning it was time to pack up.
We left around 11:00 that morning and got home around 10:30 on Sunday morning. Here are Ruthie and Scott in the back while I was driving.

We actually made great time because we lost two hours in time change. It was a long trip, but fun.

My cousin, Chad and his wife, Allison gave birth to a baby boy this morning at 6:32. Kane weighed 7 lbs, 2 oz and was 20 inches long.

I will be in CO on Friday and I cannot wait to meet little Kane and take some more pictures of him!

Henkleman Restoration Ceremony

On Saturday, Scott and I had the privilege to attend the Henkleman Restoration Ceremony. It was a wonderful ceremony and I am so glad we went. We had actually never met Paul or Danna before that day. Danna is my "internet friend". We came to know each other through our wonderful friend, Monica and the world of blogging. Anyway, I have been following their story and praying for their marriage and family since late last year and God answered in such an awesome way! God is so good to those who seek after Him!

I am sad to say we really didn't get any good pictures of the ceremony as it was so dark inside the church and we do not own an external flash. However, we did get a couple pictures during the reception of Danna, their new baby girl, Selah and me!

Yay! We got to meet in person! Danna, sorry I forgot to have you remove Selah's pacifier from your dress :) She was so sad that we had to leave. We will have to plan to get together again soon!

New Office Supplies

Check out my new pink office supplies! My little brother, Jonathan found these at the store and just knew that I would love them since they are pink! So, he bought them for me. Isn't that so sweet!?! He even had them gift wrapped for me. And he was right...I love them! The stapler even has pink staples.

Short Week!

It is so nice to have short work weeks! We only work 4 days this week and 4 days next week and then we are off the whole week after that! On Friday after work we are heading to Virginia for the weekend. We will come home sometime on Sunday afternoon/evening. It looks like it is going to be rainy whether though since the tropical storm is heading in. Hopefully we will see a little sunshine so that Scott can do some hunting.

We then leave next Thursday for Colorado! Yay! Scott is going hunting and I am going to visit my grandparents. Also, my cousin, Allison is going to have her baby any day and I am hoping to see them! We are bringing Ruthie too so that she can see her grandma. We will come back on the 21st.

I posted some more pictures on our photography blog. I got a few of Hannah and some of Heather's friends' kids. We are taking Joel's senior pictures tonight, so look for those too!

Camping Trip

So...I am way behind on posting! Here are pictures from our camping trip to Chilhowie from the middle of July. Derek and Lindsay went with us. We had a lot of fun except I was sick. I woke up the morning we left with a sore throat and ended up with bronchitis two days later. So, that wasn't fun. Other than that...we had a nice time. The weather was almost perfect.

Getting A Little Antsy Here!

Why? For a couple reason actually…

1) It is only one hour until my weekend starts! Yay! We have a very full weekend. Tonight we have our Love and Respect class…it is every 3rd Friday night of the month at Rob and Jeminah’s church. It is really good! I have thoroughly enjoyed it! Tomorrow we are going camping with Derek and Lindsay. Scott needs to get some hiking in before he goes hunting in Colorado, so this will be perfect! I am heading to the grocery store after our class tonight to get everything we need.

2) I am ready to get my sewing/embroidery machine! I have found so many projects that I want to make! I’m just so darn excited! I think I will warn you now…some of you might get some homemade gifts…ha! Just be ready :)

We have a lot going on during the next month. I can’t think of anything really going on for next weekend, but the following weekend we are going to Atlanta. The weekend after Atlanta we are going to Virginia and the weekend after that is when Scott leaves for Colorado. He will be gone two weekends in a row. The Thursday after he gets back is the season premier of The Office! Yay! So…we are full until October. Wow! Maybe we can sell our house sometime in here too.

I Really Enjoy Weekends

We had a really nice weekend. I got all my laundry done and cleaned out our closets. We took several bags of clothes to Goodwill and I gave a few things to my sisters. Look at my clean dress/skirt closet. Scott got me those pretty pink hangers!

And yes, that is a camouflage skirt you see in there. I have to wear that when I go to the woods or the shooting range with Scott.

After cleaning we did a little window shopping. I am still trying to find a sewing machine. Heather's mother-in-law suggested the Babylock Ellure. I have read several reviews on it and I think that is what I want. The only thing I don't like is that it only has a card and not a USB source. I guess as long as I can transfer data it is okay. It looks like to get the Ellure Plus (which has the USB source) it will be an additional $500. It has a few more bells and whistles, but really not much. I don't think I want to spend that much more just for that one thing. But, I will look at both of them and see. It looks like I will have to go to either Atlanta or Knoxville to find one. According to the babylock website, those are the closest dealers to me. We are going to Atlanta on the 30th, so I will check out the store down there. The Knoxville store is only 80 miles from us, so that isn't too bad. Maybe we can get there one weekend.

I did get myself a nice pair of sewing shears. I won a bid on eBay last night! Most places that I've found these wanted about $40. I got them for only $11.61...that includes my shipping! I have never owned a pair of left handed scissors before...so I am excited!

Here is my other great deal of the weekend! I've been looking for a sewing box for awhile now. I've checked online and in a few stores. Pretty much...all of the boxes I've found were about $25. Yesterday I found this one at Hancock's for only $12.50! It is the prettiest one I've seen and it was on sale! So, I grabbed it.

Fire is Fun!

On Monday night we had my family over to our house to make s’mores. Carrie came to town for the weekend and I wanted to do something that everyone could do together. Lori was the only family member who did not come. Her friend is here visiting with her this week, so they had their own plans. I got pictures of everyone else except Joel and my mom. Joel had to work and by the time they got there it was too dark for anymore pictures. Oh well…it is nearly impossible to get pictures of everyone in my family.

So, in my spare time I have been typing up my recipes so that I can print them out on 4x6 index cards and keep them in a recipe box. This is the layout that I am using. I also have a Christmas border for all my Christmas recipes. I tried to find 4x6 cards that already had cute borders, but I couldn't find any without lines. So, I got just plain white 4x6 index cards without lines at Office Depot. I think there are 500 cards in the package and they were only about $5. Most of the cards I found with any decoration on them were about $3-$5 for only 10-20 cards. So, I guess doing my own borders is better anyway. Here is a finished card. If you click on the picture you will be able to read the recipe. These muffins are so good!

Is It Really Monday Again?

I know, I know. The updates seem to be getting further and further apart. We have just been so incredibly busy lately. I will be adding our Mobile pictures soon…maybe later in the week. We just haven’t had a chance to develop them yet. Things should start slowing down after tonight. Speaking of tonight, we have two different showings on our house! Please pray that we will get the right offer. We had a showing last week as well, but we never heard back from them. I actually went home at lunch to get the house all clean and ready! The first showing is at 4:00. Our realtor said the second showing should be done by 6:30. I’ll update if we hear back from either of them. Other than that…not too much to report. I do plan to post a couple more blogs with pictures later in the week! Stay tuned…

Is It Time YET???

This afternoon is just creeping by. I want to be on the road to Mobile now. 4:45 can’t get here fast enough. We were so hoping we could leave early, but Scott can’t get off early. So…Adam, Wendy and I will just be waiting patiently for him. It wouldn’t be so bad if I actually had something to do. This week has just been so slow for me. I think a lot of people are out, so there is no one to send me work. Only two more hours until we’re outta here!

Summer is the BEST Ever!

I LOVE summer! I do not enjoy being cold, so summer is my favorite time! I love to be able to go outside at any time of day or night and not get cold. It makes me happy! Scott doesn’t like summer because he does not enjoy being hot. I’ll take hot any day over cold. Why am I telling you this? I really don’t know…just thought I should tell you something since I am updating and all.

Let me think…for those of you who don’t already know my cell phone was run over by one or more vehicles and this is all I could find of it.

Sooooo…if you haven’t already done so, please give me your numbers again. Apparently, after an accident like this you cannot turn your phone on anymore…all numbers are lost forever. Sad day!

The good news is…we get awesome discounts at work for Verizon! So, even though I was not eligible for a phone upgrade I was able to get this beautiful phone for super cheap! Anyone else would have had to pay $320 plus tax! I love perks! I have to wait 2-5 days to get my new phone in the mail though.

Only one week until we see Carrie! Scott, Adam and I are spending the 4th with Carrie. My friend, Wendy is coming too, so I am super excited! It is our first vacation with Wendy! The trip is going to cost us next to nothing because Carrie is house sitting for one of the professor’s from school while they are on family vacation…his wife said we can all stay at their house with her for free! They even have a pool! It is going to be great! We are planning a beach day on Saturday…might eat at Lambert’s Café too.

3 Years Already?

Last Wednesday we celebrated our 3rd anniversary! I can’t believe it has been 3 years already. Where does the time go? It has been the best 3 years of my life! I couldn’t be happier!

Since our anniversary was on Wednesday, we decided to wait until Friday to celebrate. We went to Whitestone Inn for the weekend. That is the place we went for our honeymoon. We really love it there, so decided to go again. We stayed in a different room this time.

I thought it was about time I posted an update with pictures from our Colorado trip. Scott picked us up in Nashville last Tuesday night. We had a great visit. I don't have all of the pictures with me today...I am missing the ones with Madi and Deunan. I'll try to get them up soon. Just a recap...we left on Thursday after work (May 29th). Our cousin, Kaylee picked us up in Denver and we headed to Grampa and Gramee's house. On Friday we pretty much just relaxed...did a little shopping for some Broncos paraphernalia. On Saturday we went to Denver to see our cousin, Allison and see Madi, John and Deunan. We did some "Big City Shopping". I think Joel got some more Broncos stuff. On Sunday we went to church with the family and then out to eat at The Black Eyed Pea. That was really good! We don't have that restaurant here. On Monday Grampa wanted to take us to do some site-seeing...so we went to Colorado Springs to see Cave of the Winds. That was a lot of fun...however, we felt really bad because Grampa ended up staying in the truck while we toured the cave because it was too much walking for him. Dream Come True

It has long since been my dream to go out west to hunt elk. Well, in September I will be doing just that. You have to "put in" for tags in Colorado and they have a drawing and I found out yesterday that I was drawn. I only drew a cow tag but hopefully next year or the year after that I'll get a bull tag. Should be fun. Here's the quary I'll be chasin' in a couple months!

I Love Long Weekends!

On Friday night after work Derek and Lindsay picked us up for dinner downtown at a place called Genghis Grill. It is Mongolian stir fry…so good! You just put whatever meat, veggies, seasoning and sauces that you want in a bowl and then take it up to be cooked. We will be going there again.

After dinner we went to see Rob, Jenny and Zeke at the hospital. We did get some really sweet pictures of Zeke and his hands and feet but, I don’t have them here to post right now. Anyway, pray for little Zeke because he is still in the hospital in NICU under oxygen. He is not able to breathe completely on his own just yet and he is also not eating as much as they would like. Jenny went home on Sunday and it was very hard on her to have to leave him there. Pray that he is able to go home soon!

On Saturday morning we got up early and went to breakfast and then Scott went to shoot clay birds at a company thing. I went home and cleaned house and then went to see Jenny for a bit at the hospital. After I picked Scott up we went to see Indiana Jones…it was okay…my least favorite of all the Indiana Jones movies.

On Sunday we went to church and then had dinner with my family. After dinner Lori, Adam and Joel went shopping with us. Joel wanted to get some new clothes for our trip to Colorado this week. After shopping we went to our house to hang out…they stayed over until about 11:30 that night.

Yesterday was great because we didn’t have to work. We slept in, Scott mowed and I did laundry and cleaned out fridge. We did a little shopping and then went to eat at my parents’ house. After dinner Adam, Joel and Ruthie came with us to play some Wii with Lindsay.

It was a great weekend and made for a short work week…I only have to work 3 days because we leave after work on Thursday for Colorado. It is going to be a lot of fun! We will be home on Tuesday night. Only two days to go!

Good news for Adam today...he got a job for the rest of the summer working here. So, that is great! He will get 40 hours every week until he goes back to school.

Carrie told me yesterday that she is still not feeling well...pray that she will get better soon!

Spain, Tornadoes and a Baby Boy!

So many things going on right now…just wanted to post an update and ask for prayer in a few areas.

First – Pray for Carrie…she made the 13 hour train ride from Paris to Madrid yesterday. She was excited about Spain, however she is sick. She had a fever and sore throat. Pray that she will feel better soon and that the rest of the time will not catch whatever she has.

Second – Pray for our Colorado friends who were hit by the tornado yesterday. Heather’s in-laws’ house appears to be a total loss. Thankfully, they were not home and were not hurt. Here are a few pictures that I just received of their house.

Maria Sue Chapman

This morning I woke up to hear the news that Steven Curtis Chapman's youngest daughter was killed yesterday in a tragic accident. Please keep the family in your prayers. I have been a big fan of his for a long time. He is such a godly man and loves his family so much!

NASHVILLE, TN...5/21/08... At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Wednesday May 21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there. Maria is one of the close knit family’s six children and one of their three adopted daughters.

More than five years ago, Chapman and his wife MaryBeth founded The Shaohannah’s Hope Ministry after bringing their first adopted daughter, Shaohannah, home from China. The ministry’s goal is to help families reduce the financial barrier of adoption, and has provided grants to over 1700 families wishing to adopt orphans from around the world. Chapman is a five-time GRAMMY ® winner and 54-time Dove Award winning artist who has sold over 10 million albums and garnered 44 No. 1 singles.

Hot Water, Grampa, Dog & Birthday with Chacos!

So, last Wednesday morning we woke up to water standing in the kitchen. The hot water heater decided it was done. Scott shut off the water to the house and soaked up the water and we went to work. Thankfully, Derek, Lindsay and my dad were able to come over and help us after work. Our small group teacher stopped by for a visit and ended up staying until about 10:30. We got it back and working on Thursday…we couldn’t finish it Wednesday night because we needed a part and the stores were already closed. But, it works great now and it wasn’t a huge ordeal like the bathroom. So, that was great!

My Grampa is in the hospital with pneumonia and a blockage in his intestines. We are hoping he won’t have to have surgery…it will just depend on whether or not they can get the blockage out with just a tube. Please pray that he doesn’t need surgery. I was able to find some pretty cheap airline tickets, so Lori, Joel and I are flying to Denver on the 29th. I am sad that Scott can’t go, but he doesn’t really have enough time to take off from work. We are really excited that we get to go!

Our house is still for sale. Someone said they were going to come and see it over the weekend, but they never came.

News on Trish…she didn’t get along with Jimmy’s dog, so he had to bring her back. My sister, Heather ended up taking her. Hannah has wanted a dog for so long and is thrilled! She loves Trish! Hopefully, Ruthie will warm up to her too…she is scared to death of her.

I had a really nice birthday. Scott got me a bread machine and these shoes...

My parents got me That Thing You Do! on DVD and a gift certificate for a pedicure. Heather, Lori, Philip and Sally all went in together and got me these Chacos…

Lori also got me Juno on DVD. Derek and Lindsay got me season 2 of How I Met Your Mother and my in-laws got me a gift card to Bath & Body Works. I think that is all. We also went out to dinner on Friday night to Provino’s Italian Restaurant.

That is just about it. I am so glad that it is getting warm outside again! I love the warm weather.

Forgotten Williamsburg Pictures

I forgot that I had some pictures left on my camera so I downloaded them today.

This is historic Jamestown as seen from the ferry crossing the James river. We did not actually go into the park as it cost money and let's just face it, I'm cheap so I didn't want to pay for it. In fact almost everything we seen that weekend cost money.

These pictures were taken in Yorktown. It poured down on us while we were there. It did ease up enough for us to get out for a while to site see.

Williamsburg

Well, we got back Wednesday evening from our mini vacation to Williamsburg, VA. We had a nice time...although the weather wasn't the best. We ended up skipping Busch Gardens because of rain. We still had fun though. Here are a few pictures we took.

Billy Webb

Billy Joe Webb, 85, of Harrison, went home to be with his dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, April 26, 2008.

A good man obtains favor from the Lord. Proverbs 12:2

He was born Feb. 5, 1923, in Indian Mound, Tenn., to the late Ernest and Ruby Webb. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force. He moved to Chattanooga to attend and graduate from Tennessee Temple College. He was a faithful member of Highland Park Baptist Church where he served as an usher for many years and was a member of the Men's Bible Class. He retired from Combustion Engineering where he worked at Plant 4.

Billy was a faithful husband and a wonderful loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Billy loved to share his faith to assure people that "Jesus paid it all".

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Faith; two sisters, Ernestine Gunter and Peggy Tate; and a brother, Jack Webb.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Youree Webb; and five daughters, Rebecca Grace Geoffrion, Joy (Sonny) Mays, Hope, (Rod) Morris, Ruby (Rickie) Climer, and Lisa (Jim) Lawrence; four brothers, Clay Webb, Jimmy Webb, Sonny Webb and Kenny Webb; and three sisters, Sylvia Vincent, Doris Windham and Margaret Ann Parker. God blessed him with 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Bruce Howland will lead a celebration of his life on Tuesday, April 29th at 10 a.m. in Asbury Chapel (on the campus of Highland Park Baptist Church).

Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends between 4-8 p.m., today, April 28th in Asbury Chapel.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful, kind, and loving care that he received from the staff at Alexian on Signal Mountain.

Granddaddy...

...is home with Jesus. This morning around 12:40 I got a call from my mom saying that my granddaddy had gone to be with our Lord. He passed away around 12:30. We are thankful that he is no longer suffering. His funeral will be on Tuesday and he is being buried at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Scott and I are in Williamsburg and will not be home for the funeral. I talked with my mom before we left town and she said we should just go ahead on our trip because we didn't know when he was going to die. I was hoping we would be back for the funeral, but I'm glad he didn't have to suffer anymore. He has been sick a long time. Please keep our family in your prayers.

Time for an Update

I thought it was about time I gave you all an update…it has been almost two weeks since my last post. Things have been a little crazy…

First thing – My grandfather isn’t doing very well. The doctor’s don’t expect him to live much longer. He had a stroke over the weekend and his organs have started shutting down. His kidneys quit yesterday, so they expect him to pass away any day now. Just pray that he doesn’t have to suffer for any length of time.

Second thing – Scott has to give away his dog, Trish. He has had her since she was just a few weeks old…about 5 years. We have talked about what to do with her for a long time now and this seems to be the best solution. She is very lonely because we are gone from about 7:15 in the morning until about 5:15 at night and she just stays locked up in her room all day. Then, we come home and usually go out somewhere after work and she stays home alone for the evening. We had thought about just getting another dog to keep her company, but we go out of town a lot and don’t really have anyone to keep her…let alone another dog too. The good news is we are giving her to my cousin, Jimmy so at least Scott can still see her if he wants. Jimmy will give her the attention she needs and he has another dog for her to play with.

Third thing – We leave on Friday right after work for our trip to Jamestown and Williamsburg. We are going to spend Friday night at Scott’s parents’ house and then drive the rest of the way on Saturday. The bad news is the weather looks like rain for everyday we are there. Hopefully the forecast will change. We are coming home on Wednesday. As of now, the plan is to go to Busch Gardens on Sunday, but I guess that might change if it is raining all day. Derek and Lindsay are going with us, so it should be really fun!

That is about all that we have going on now…besides trying to sell our house. Pray that we get a buyer soon!

Yesterday was my baby brother's 13th birthday. It was also the first new episode of The Office since the writer's strike. So, we had a double celebration! So...this morning I got this picture in a text message from my brother Joel. His message read "Check it out"

I said "Where did you get this picture" and he said "I'm in Washington". I told him that it isn't April Fool's anymore. He said he would send me a picture of the White House later. I told him he better be in it. He then sent me this picture.

So...it turns out he is really in D.C. I did not know anything about this trip. Oh well, I guess since I didn't know I am not obligated to donate any money to him.

This has been the longest week ever! I am so bored at work that I don't know what to do with myself! Tomorrow is Friday though...YAY!

Tonight we are going over to our friend's house for dinner with him and two other friends. He is making us some potato soup...which I LOVE! I made some cream puffs for dessert. The look so pretty and delicious too! Maybe I'll post a picture of them later for you all to see...you'll be jealous :)

I think tomorrow night we're having dinner with Rob & Jenny. We haven't been able to hang out with them for awhile since I was sick. So, that should be fun. I think we're going to Carabba's...I haven't been there since I lived in Fort Collins.

On Saturday I plan to sleep in! We will probably just do some house work and relax all day. I don't think we have any plans.

Well, I really have nothing important to say...I guess I'll post again later.

We are in Mobile with Carrie and Adam for Easter/Carrie's birthday/Carrie's piano recital. We are having a ton of fun! Last night we all cooked dinner together and then made cream puffs for dessert...they were wonderful!

Up and Running Again...

Yesterday was my first day back to work since my surgery. I am feeling so much better. Thank you all for your prayers, calls, emails, texts ect. I really appreciated them! Also, thanks to Wendy for all the movies! I just got back from my post-op appointment and Dr. Redd said everything looks great. I'm a little bruised, but the incisions healed nicely.

On Saturday Rob & Jeminah got married. I was a bridesmaid and Scott took their pictures. Damon came along to help him out and I know he was grateful for that. I haven't seen the ones that Damon took, but Scott got some great ones! He got a few really good ones of just Rob & Jeminah. I will post some up here once we finish going through all of them. I think they took around 1,000 pictures.

My cousin John also got married on Saturday to Neely. We weren't able to go since we were in Rob & Jeminah's wedding, but I think it went well. I saw a few pictures and it looked really pretty...Neely looked beautiful!

On Saturday, Scott and I are headed to Mobile for Easter with Carrie and Adam and to be there for Carrie's 21st birthday. Carrie also has a piano recital on Tuesday night. So, we will come home on Wednesday. I am looking forward to it. I hope it is really warm down there!

Update on Beth

Beth had her surgery last Tue morning. The doctor said it "went smooth as glass" which is good news. The doctor's office and a few people we talked to said that "you'll bounce right back and be on your feet in a day or two." Now, the people we know personally that has had the operation say "It takes longer than what people say, it'll take at least 4 days before you get up and about." Well Sat was day 4 and that was the day that Beth was able to get out for the first time. Sunday she felt a little better. A little less pain and a little less nausea. I came to work today and left her in bed. She said her stomach was hurting a little bit this morning but it was more like a bruise sore than anything else.

Thanks to everyone that has or is praying for her. I will gladly take my 2 herniated discs in my back any day over seeing her go through this much pain again. It was not fun. Please continue to pray for her. She's still in paid and still has a while before she'll be back to 100% but praise God she looks like she's on the right path and feeling better finally.

Doctor's Appointment

I went to the doctor today to discuss my test results. He said I have a bunch of stones in my gallbladder. My blood work was all normal, so that is good. It means my liver has not been infected or anything. So, now I have to see the surgeon. I have an appointment with him next Thursday (the 28th). He will then schedule my surgery. I'll update you after I have that appointment. Thank you all for your prayers!

Just a Little Update...

I thought I should post a little update on what we’re doing. Our house has been on the market for a whole week now. Our realtor hasn’t had anyone ask about it, but last night a couple stopped by and asked if they could look around. So, at least we had someone look at it the first week. I’m not sure if we’ll hear back from them, but at least they looked. If I would have known they were going to stop by I would have at least had some candles burning. The house was clean though...since we listed the house we have not gone to bed with any dirty dishes in the sink and we have made our bed every morning (we’re not big bed makers). Our house is super clean and ready for someone to look at it at all times!

I (Beth) am going back to the doctor tomorrow to discuss my test results from last week. I have been really sick with my gallbladder and it seems to be time to have it removed. So, tomorrow my doctor will refer me to a surgeon. I hope to get the surgery scheduled for this week or next week. So…I’ll keep you all posted on that.

I don’t think we really have anything else to report. I hope you all are doing great!

Wow...January was fast! I can't believe it is already over. We were so busy working on our house that we didn't even notice January passing by. We still don't have the house up for sale. We are hoping to have it up next week. The reason for the delay is the weather. We had a couple things to paint outside and it has been too cold. It is supposed to be almost 60 degrees tomorrow and no rain! So, we are going to work like crazy to get everything done! Once we finish our outside projects we will take pictures of everything to send to our realtor. We'll post the pictures of the house on here for you all to see.

I guess I just don’t know what to blog about. Let me think…we had a wonderful Christmas! Of course you all know that Scott got me a pink computer…I was absolutely thrilled! He also got me several outfits, a Sara Evans CD, several different colors of nail polish, a pink set of makeup brushes…and I can’t think what else. My parents got me a bunch of Pampered Chef stuff and a gift card to P.F. Chang’s. Carrie got us a TON of Starbucks coffee…like probably 8 pounds or something. She also got me a bunch of different kinds of tea from Starbucks, season 2 of House and season 5 of FRIENDS. Mark and Sonja got me a Bath & Body Works gift card and a Beth Moore book…which is great! Scott’s mom got me some pretty green sheets, a jewelry box that hangs on the wall and it a picture frame…it is really neat. She got me a really cute purse too! My Grandparents got me a gift card to Old Navy which I used to get a really cute robe and some slippers! Carrie got a matching one only in a different color. Monica got me some really cute Christmas socks. Wow…I think I probably forgot some stuff that I got…I got some much this year! Oh yea…Derek and Lindsay got me a pink tool set! Yes…the hammer and everything is pink! It’s great! Jonathan got us some coffee too…we’re set on coffee for awhile.

We are about to put our house up for sale. Pray that it doesn’t take a long time for it to sell. We’re going to be working extremely hard this weekend trying to get it ready. I will be pressure washing the outside on Saturday…I hope it isn’t too cold! I will post the pictures of the house that we will be placing online.

I still need to post a bunch of pictures…I’m so behind! It just takes me so long to shrink them all down for posting. I’ll try to work on them soon.

Christmas Ketchup

Well, Christmas has come and gone. Man it got here quick and Christmas Day just flew by. We're in Virginia right now. I'm gettin' to hunt a little bit. I think it's going to rain tomorrow but we'll see. Beth, Sissy, Mark and I went shopping today after I got out of the woods from my morning hunt. I had to go buy some pellets for my new air gun that mom got me and Sissy had something she needed to exchange. Not as crazy at the mall as what I would have expected though.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! If you're traveling back home please be safe, there's lots of crazies out on the roads nowadays.

We don't have any pictures downloaded yet. Maybe Beth'll do that tomorrow while I'm in the woods. There's only about 500 from the past couple days. Also, in case you don't have a facebook acount Beth got a new computer for Christmas and guess what color it is?... She also got lots of clothes which is what she asked for. I think she had a good day.

I had a great Christmas and now am spending time w/my sister and family. It's nice to see my nephews again.-Man have they grown. It's amazing how much in just 6 months. They leave Friday to go back to Chicago and we think we're gonna leave on Saturday morning. I got some really nice stuff for Christmas. My wonderful wife did a great job-as she always does.

Beth just said she'll try to post some pictures tomorrow. As for me, I'm going to bed. 6 o'clock will come very early in the morning.

Twas" the Week Before a Non-Denominational Winter Holiday

Well, we're back from Virginia. It was nice to have a long weekend. Beth did some Christmas shopping and I got to go to the woods. She was sucessful in her endevor, I however was not. I did have a lot of fun though. Just being in the woods is fun enough for me. Plus I got to try out my new treestand. It's like a Lazy Boy in a tree. (Summit Viper Climbing Stand) I foresee myself falling asleep in my new found tree perch very often.

Kinda hard to believe that Christmas is only 9 days away. It snuck up on us quick eh? Don't know where the whole "eh" thing came from but I've been saying it a lot lately. I didn't make any trip to Canada recently. I don't even know any Canadian people. Guess I'm just weird eh?

Our Christmas shopping is just about done. I have some stocking stuff to buy for Beth and I think she has one more gift to get for her mom and we are D.O.N.E. done. We've actually been at that point for a week or two now. I keep telling Beth that next year she has to put more intersting stuff on her wish list because just clothes is boring. Maybe next year she'll put on there a new pink shotgun ;~)

We're having a "Christmas Show Party" on Thursday. We're getting friends together and watching all the Christmas episodes of FRIENDS and The Office. So Beth is scheming on 'what to make'.

Don't know if we'll be able to post again before Christmas as you know it gets kinda hectic about now. Therefore, our schedule is as follows (I know you're on the edge of your seat waiting for this aren't you?.... wait for it... wait for it....OKAY GO!:

We're working this week and have the Christmas Show Party on Thursday. Christmas Eve we have a service at church then over to the Morris' to open gifts and what not. Christmas morning-gifts w/babydoll hooray!! Then drive to VA for Christmas w/my family. Mark, Sissy, Landon and Taylor are all going to be there. Then we're staying there until Saturday or Sunday. During that time of course I will be spending lots of time in my Lazy Boy treestand and possibly some of that time asleep in it. Unfortunatly, I have to work on Monday the 31st-Beth does not so I think she's going to Lindsay's to watch movies and such. Then we get off New Years day where we'll probably sleep in and catch up from the craziness that is the holidays. Whew, I'm wore out just typing that. Therefore, I shall retire to bed.

I was going to post my more pictures from our Colorado trip, but it turns out I don't have them with me to do so. Yesterday I posted several of them to my FaceBook and I thought I would just take them from there to add over here. However, FaceBook shrunk them down too small for here. They looked like thumbnails when I added them to the blog. Since I didn't bring my laptop with me today I don't have the originals to put up. Maybe I can do them at home tonight.

This week has gone by pretty quickly for some reason. Yesterday I ordered our Christmas cards and I hope to get them in the mail early next week. Tomorrow I am going to Logan's for lunch for our work Christmas luncheon. So, I get off work at 1:00. After lunch I think I'll do a little bit of Christmas shopping...I don't really want to drive all the way home and then turn around and come back downtown to pick Scott up.

Scott seems to have come down with some type of sinus illness. He isn't feeling very well today. Hopefully, he won't be sick too long.

We're taking off next Friday so that Scott can go hunting in Virginia. We'll be leaving after we get off work on Thursday and staying until Sunday.

I don't really have anything else to report for now. I'll do my best to get those pictures up here either tonight or tomorrow.

Back Home Again...

We got back home a little after 1:00 yesterday morning. We had a major delay due to snow in Colorado and Kansas. Other than that, we had the best trip ever! We all had so much fun! It was so nice to see some of our very close friends and spend several days with family! I have been working on getting pictures posted...it just takes awhile to edit and resize them for the blog. Here is a panel that I just finished of Deunan Mackenzie...isn't she beautiful? She is Madi's baby girl!

I wish I would have been able to take some of these shots of Gillian and Kristin...we just didn't have the time to do it while Gillian was awake.

We Made It!

I just thought I'd update to let you all know that we made it safely to Colorado! We left last night at about 10:40 (yes, my schedule started out off) and arrived in Kansas City this morning at 7:45. We really enjoyed our time with Chris, Lynn and Afton...even though it was short. After breakfast we went to Cabela's and just walked around for about an hour and a half. It was nice to get out of the car for awhile.

We obviously spent most of our day driving across the exciting state of Kansas. We arrived at Kristin's house at 7:45. I finally got to meet and hold Gillian! She is so sweet and adorable. She didn't cry at all...just looked at all of us like "Do I know you?" She was so sweet! Jack was showing off for us...he is so funny!

We didn't stay very long at Kristin's because we wanted to get to Estes Park and check into our hotel. We got here a little after 9:00. We are planning to get up early tomorrow and drive through the park.

Well, I am so tired and I really need to get to bed! I'll update again when I get a chance.

Today is the Day!

We are leaving for Colorado tonight at 10:00! We are very excited! We are driving through the night, so I assume we'll drink a lot of caffeine. Our first stop is breakfast at Denny's in Kansas City. Chris, Lynn and Afton are meeting us at 7:00am! Scott and Lynn worked together when Scott lived in Kansas, but I've never actually met Lynn...just talked over email and MySpace, so I'm excited!

After breakfast we are going to take a little break and visit the Kansas City Cabela's (Scott's favorite store). We'll probably stay an hour or two and then it is back on the road. We are hoping to arrive at Kristin's around 7:30 or 8:00 tomorrow night. We are just picking up the lens that we rented (it was shipped to Kristin to save us money...thanks Kristin!). Kristin and I have been friends since I was born! I'm so excited to see her and spend some time with her! She just had a baby girl during the summer and I am so excited to meet her!

After we pick up the lens we are heading to Estes Park to spend the night. We are planning to get up early on Sunday morning to see the sunrise. We'll probably just drive around looking at nature and stuff until about noon. We then will head to Denver to meet Kristin and her family and my friend, Rachel for lunch at Casa Bonita! I haven't been there in years, so I'm really excited! It should be really fun. Also, I haven't seen Rachel in about 6 or 7 years. So that is cool too!

After lunch at Casa Bonita we are heading to Fort Collins to spend the night. We're having dinner at the Liedtke's house and the Jensen's will also be joining us. We've known the Jensen's our whole life and the Liedtke's for as long as we can remember...so it will be fun!

After dinner I'm not for sure what we're doing. We were going to go over to Kristin's and hang out, but her husband will be in town now (he works in Phoenix) and I don't want to take away their time together. So, we'll see what she has planned.

On Monday we are hoping to see Madi and meet her baby girl! I'm having a hard time getting in contact with her, so we might just have to show up at their doorstep.

Monday night we are heading to my grandparents' house and we will stay there until Friday evening (that's when we have to go home). We're really excited because it is supposed to snow at their house on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday! We don't get snow here, so that will be awesome!

On our way home when passing through the St. Louis area we are going to stop and see Allen, Monica and the kids! We haven't seen them since our wedding!

Latest on My Dad...

My dad has been taking the steroid treatment for a couple of weeks now. Well, yesterday he went back to the doctor so that they could check his hearing to see if the treatment is working or not. His hearing is actually worse than it was two weeks ago and the medicine he is on has caused high blood pressure. The doctor still thinks he may have an autoimmune disease, so he is switching him to another type of medicine. The bad news is that they told him his hearing loss is permanent. However, there is a procedure that they may be able to do that would take his hearing for the other ear and mirror it to the ear that isn't working. It is called a Cochlear Implant.

Anyway, they did release him to go back to work on December 1st. We're hoping this new medicine will start working soon.

We are only 1 week away from leaving for Colorado! Hooray!! I can't wait to get back out there. Should be a ton of fun. We're praying for good weather. I hope to add to my portfolio while out there and Beth, Carie and Adam get to spend time w/their grandparents. I've been thinking about this trip for months now and thought I'd post some pictures from last year to 'set the mood' Should be snow out there now so this years pictures should be a little more white than last years.
