Well...we had a very interesting weekend! At about noon of Friday, I received a call from my brother, Adam. He said “Our house is on fire!” So, Scott and I rushed over there! We got there to find 3 full size fire trucks, 1 small fire truck, 2 ambulances, 2 police cars, the electric company, our pastor, our youth pastor and his wife, our middle school youth minister and one of our associate pastors. Not to mention all of the neighbors out helping and some just watching. We had to park down the block.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The state is sending out an arson investigator…hopefully tomorrow. After he is done, my parents’ insurance company will send out their arson investigator.
In the mean time, the insurance company said that they will probably have to find somewhere else to live for 3-4 months. After just looking over everything he estimates at least $80,000 in damage.
The good news…no one was hurt! Not even Jonathan’s guinea pig, Wilson. The fire department rescued Wilson.
More good news…they didn’t lose much to the fire. My dad lost all of his books and some damage was done to his 1967 Firebird…we think it can be repaired. My mom may have lost all of her Christmas ornaments that she has been collecting since they got married, but we don’t know yet. We aren’t allowed in the garage to look at any of that. Other than those few things, we don’t think anything else was lost unless their furniture is ruined due to smoke. It may be able to be cleaned, but we don’t know yet.
And now for the pictures!

This is where the fire was started. This is outside of the house, looking into the garage.
