Our first stop was in Seward. Birthplace of the Alaskan flag and current home of Jonathan.
Then we jumped in the car and drove up the Seward Highway which runs between Anchorage and Seward.
From there we went to Homer, Soldotna and Kenai. Homer is a perfect place to go if you want to see Bald Eagles or eat seafood. Soldotna and Kenai are very close together and where we stayed Saturday night with Beth's friends the Bookouts.
It doesn't ever really get "dark" in Alaska at night. It just turns a kinda purple bluish color.
From there it was back to Seward to pack for Fairbanks and Denali National Park. The weather was not so great on this leg of our trip. It rained/snowed and was cloudy almost the entire time. We saw very little wildlife in Denali and the scenery was covered by clouds-and not the "this makes a great picture" clouds either. However, on our way back to Seward on the 9th we were able to see Mt. McKinley (America's tallest peak at over 20K feet) and a few other nice scenes.
A closer look at Mt. McKinley
Some other scenery on the way back from Fairbanks
From there it was back to Seward to sadly come back home. But before we left I managed to get a few more last shots.

Wow! Those are some beautiful pictures! Great job!
Yes, good pictures. In fact, I put a couple of your pictures on my own blog, but don't worry...I gave appropriate credit. It should also be noted that those pictures were taken during an unexpected period of great weather during the Hagie visit. Both before they arrived and now that they're gone, the weather has become more typical again...foggy, cloudy, and rainy. Hooray!
Yay...we brought good weather!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!! I love love love the purple mountains. Nice job.
So beautiful -- I have so many fond memories that I got to take a little peek at in my heart where they're nestled away. Thank you!!! I'm glad you like Homer -- I would love to eat the halibut at whatever restaurant it was we went to there. It's a scraggy town, but we sure had a blast! I'm glad you guys did too, Beth. :o)
We ate at a really neat restaurant called Captain Patties. We had an ocean view at our table. I’m not much of a seafood person, but I did try some of Scott’s halibut.
